The stunning Brockley Kitchen was created in collaboration with Grace King, founder of interior design practice Studio Rey, for a project in South London. By utilising a combination of IKEA carcasses and HUSK Bespoke elements, Grace was able to reduce costs whilst retaining a custom feel for her clients.
Seeking to retain as much natural light as possible, Grace opted for a lighter palette – adorning perimeter units with our Natural Oak kitchen fronts and a beautiful white Neolith Retrostone worktop.
Custom storage was high on the clients’ list, so we introduced a HUSK Bespoke breakfast larder, which was clad in our Primed MDF door fronts and painted on-site to complement the wraparound tile splash-back.
Bespoke elements didn’t stop there. Utilising our carpentry know-how, we enclosed a run of IKEA units in Primed MDF fronts, serving as custom bench seating in the dining area and painted to match the breakfast larder.
Designed for Socialising and Everyday Living
A key priority for the project was to preserve the abundance of natural light in the space. To achieve this, Grace opted for a light and airy colour palette. Perimeter units were adorned with HUSK’s Natural Oak kitchen fronts, which beautifully showcased the warmth and texture of the wood, and paired with a pristine Neolith Retrostone worktop. The subtle veining in the worktop complemented the oak fronts, creating a harmonious, clean design.
The bespoke elements extended beyond the kitchen area. Grace and the HUSK team devised a clever solution for the dining area by enclosing a run of IKEA units with HUSK’s Primed MDF fronts to create a custom bench seat. This built-in seating not only added a practical dining solution but also enhanced the flow of the space. Painted to match the breakfast larder, the bench seating became a cohesive and functional feature that added both style and storage.
I love working with HUSK as they’re a local business – I can pop in and see new samples, and feel really well looked after by their designers. I am always excited to work on projects with them.
