Our Story
HUSK was founded with a simple belief: beautifully crafted kitchens shouldn’t be reserved for bespoke budgets.
By combining handcrafted fronts and cabinetry with high-street cabinet systems, we’ve created a different approach to kitchen design – one that brings together thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship and lasting quality.
Today, every HUSK kitchen is designed and manufactured from our Bristol workshop, where designers and makers work side by side to create kitchens made for everyday living.
HUSK grew from Young & Norgate, the award-winning furniture studio founded by Dave Young and Ross Norgate.
After meeting at the renowned Rowden Atelier Fine Woodworking School, Dave and Ross established their first workshop in Devon, designing and making contemporary furniture that quickly earned national recognition. As the studio evolved, so did the scale of its work, growing from individual pieces into complete interior commissions before relocating to Bristol.
As more interior projects began to include kitchens, Dave and Ross saw an opportunity to do things differently, and HUSK was founded in 2019.
That background in furniture making continues to shape every HUSK kitchen today, with an emphasis on honest materials, thoughtful details and craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
Rather than asking homeowners to choose between expensive bespoke joinery and standard off-the-shelf kitchens, HUSK offers a more flexible alternative. Beautifully crafted fronts, high-spec kitchen essentials and bespoke elements can be paired with high street cabinet systems (or with our own bespoke cabinetry) to create kitchens that balance quality, character and value.
We believe kitchens should feel like furniture. We believe good design should last. And we believe that thoughtful craftsmanship creates spaces people will enjoy for years to come.
Everything we create is designed and manufactured from our Bristol workshop, where our design studio and makers work together under one roof.
Keeping every stage of the process close at hand allows us to maintain exceptional quality, refine every detail and ensure every kitchen meets the standards we’ve believed in since day one.
For us, sustainability isn’t a feature, it’s a mindset.
It begins with designing kitchens that people will want to live with for decades, not just a few years. It continues through the materials we choose, our commitment to British manufacturing, and the care we take in making products that can be repaired, refinished and enjoyed for years to come.
While we’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact, we believe that creating timeless, high-quality kitchens is one of the most meaningful contributions we can make.
In 2025, we opened our dedicated showroom on Bristol’s historic Christmas Steps.
Created as a calm and welcoming space, the showroom brings together our collections, materials and finishes, giving visitors the opportunity to experience HUSK kitchens in person and explore ideas with our design team.
Together with our workshop, it represents the next chapter in HUSK’s story and our continued commitment to thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship and beautifully made kitchens.
