Our Approach to Sustainability
At HUSK, sustainability is not just a buzzword; it’s at the heart of our operations. We believe that creating beautiful, long-lasting kitchens should never come at the expense of the environment. That’s why, from the very start, we’ve integrated eco-friendly practices into every step of our process. From sourcing FSC-certified wood to using carbon-neutral laminates, we are constantly working to reduce our environmental footprint.
Our goal is simple: to craft kitchens that not only look stunning but also contribute to a healthier planet. With each order, we aim to balance quality, functionality, and sustainability, proving that conscious design and premium craftsmanship can go hand in hand.
Our Bristol-based workshop is a hub of innovation and sustainability. Powered by solar energy, it’s equipped with state-of-the-art machinery that ensures precise craftsmanship while keeping energy consumption low. By manufacturing everything in-house, we maintain complete control over the quality of our products, while also minimising our carbon footprint.
Unlike many kitchen manufacturers, we don’t hold excess stock. Every HUSK kitchen is made to order, meaning we produce only what’s needed—minimising waste while ensuring each kitchen is unique to its owner. When offcuts do occur, we don’t let them go to waste. Larger pieces are repurposed for future projects, and smaller sections are donated to local initiatives across Bristol or utilised by our own team for personal projects.
This approach allows us to be both resourceful and mindful of our environmental impact, ensuring that every step of our production process aligns with our sustainability goals.
We’re proud to work with suppliers who share our commitment to more responsible manufacturing. One of our key partners, Arpa Industriale, has developed Bloom technology for both FENIX® and Arpa® HPL surfaces. By replacing part of the fossil-based resin with lignin, a renewable by-product of the paper industry, Bloom technology reduces the environmental impact of these materials while maintaining the same exceptional performance and durability.
Alongside this innovation, FENIX® has been carbon neutral since 2021, and Arpa continues to invest in reducing the environmental impact of its manufacturing through renewable energy, responsible sourcing and ongoing emissions reduction initiatives. By choosing these advanced materials, we’re able to offer kitchen fronts that combine long-lasting performance with a lower environmental footprint.
As a company we know that the journey towards sustainability is ongoing. While we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken, we’re always looking for new ways to improve. In the coming years, we aim to further enhance our processes by adopting even more eco-friendly materials, reducing energy consumption, and repurposing a higher percentage of our offcuts.
