A neutral kitchen set within an annexe home in the Frome countryside, designed with ease and practicality in mind.

Nestled within the countryside and surrounded by a tranquil garden with a flowing stream running through it, this annexe cabin was designed as a peaceful home for our client’s mother. The brief called for a calm, practical interior that would feel connected to its natural surroundings while providing all the comforts of contemporary living. Working within a compact open-plan footprint, we created a series of thoughtful, highly functional spaces for everyday ease.

We were so impressed with the entire team at HUSK. The designers were incredibly responsive and brought great ideas to the process, the makers went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with all the finishes, and the installation team were a pleasure to work with on site. At the heart of the annexe is a clean, understated kitchen finished with HUSK fronts in FENIX® Beige Luxor.

The soft, neutral tones create a quiet backdrop to the space, allowing natural light and views of the surrounding garden to take centre stage as the glow of the greenery outside bounces through the windows and fills the room.

Built using Howdens cabinetry as a base, our client chose FENIX® fronts and panels, complete with matching ABS edging. A practical, easy to clean option with a matt surface that softens the space.

Paired with Dekton’s Nebbia worktops and hardware by Corston Architectural, the material palette feels refined and effortless.

The open-plan space is configured in an easy L-shaped layout, maximising functionality and prioritising movement around the space.

Integrated appliances, including a fridge, wine fridge and induction hob with downdraft extraction, are seamlessly incorporated behind the minimalist frontage, while a Howdens pantry and integrated bin solutions provide generous storage. Every element has been considered to ensure the space remains uncluttered, practical and easy to use day-to-day.

Built-in boot room cabinetry in crown cut white tint ash timber veneer with black hardware, featuring a recessed dark seating nook illuminated by integrated LED strip lighting and framed by matching storage cupboards.

A custom ash ‘boot room’ with a bespoke built-in seating nook adds a practical statement to the space.

Beyond the kitchen, functional custom cabinetry adds warmth and character to the living area. A boot room arrangement, built on further Howdens cabinetry, features White Tint Ash Timber Veneer fronts that introduce subtle timber texture and a natural softness to the scheme.

The centrepiece of the space is a bespoke seating nook finished in Smoked Oak V-Groove 100mm panelling. Designed to provide both storage and a comfortable place to pause, the nook creates a welcoming focal point within the open-plan room. Integrated dimmable LED lighting enhances the richness of the smoked oak and allows the space to transition effortlessly from practical daytime use to a softer, more ambient evening setting.
