A compact, considered kitchen brings colour and character to a renovated Clifton apartment

Set within Bristol’s historic Mall Gardens, this renovated apartment has been transformed into a characterful city home by our client. The kitchen occupies a compact internal room at the centre of the plan, with doorways on two sides creating a natural flow from the hallway through to the living space. It can also be closed off when needed, offering a sense of separation without interrupting the movement through the home.

Making a small kitchen work harder

A simple L-shaped layout makes thoughtful use of the limited footprint. Howdens cabinetry is finished with HUSK fronts made from Valchromat and faced in HPL Linen, bringing a clean, understated finish to the space. Every detail has been carefully considered, including a run of shallow drawers designed to work around the room’s architecture while preserving the kitchen’s strong, continuous lines.

Bold details bring the space to life

Integrated LED lighting beneath the wall units washes across the graphic tiled splashback, bringing warmth and character to a room without its own natural light. Red accents appear throughout the apartment, most notably across the original Georgian archway into the kitchen, creating a bold focal point at the heart of the home. Below, FENIX® Nero Ingo plinths disappear into the dark-painted floor, giving the cabinetry an almost floating appearance and helping the compact space feel lighter and more expansive.
