During 2020, comedian Jason Manford had his kitchen transformed by HUSK. We spoke with Jason for an interview to understand the story behind his stunning new space, exploring the practicality, craftsmanship, and design that went into creating a kitchen tailored to his busy family life and vibrant personality.
In this humorous and heartfelt conversation, Jason shares how his kitchen reflects not only his comedic flair but also his social flair for gathering people together. From clever design choices that accommodate his large family to the personal touches that make the space uniquely his, it’s clear that his kitchen is more than just a place to cook (or plate up Deliveroo) -it’s the heart of his home.
Jason also gave us a glimpse into his go-to recipe for hosting the perfect “Manford party.” This interview offers an inspiring look at how great design can bring together functionality, style, and a sprinkle of humour to create the ultimate kitchen for both family life and entertaining.
Interview:
As a comedian, your role is largely about entertaining others. How does that translate into your personal life? Do you enjoy hosting and entertaining?
We love a party in our house. I have a big family so often lots of people are here for Sunday dinner (14 is standard / minimum)
Who does the cooking in your household?
Deliveroo (it’s my wife)
If we are coming over for dinner, what are we eating?
Generally anything that fits in a big pot, or a roast if my wife is cooking. My Dad is in charge of potato peeling but he brings his own knife.
How has having a HUSK kitchen transformed the day-to-day life in your household?
We love our Husk kitchen. Designed specifically to our needs (mainly to keep the kids/cats/family on the other side of the workspace). It’s lovely to look at and extremely practical.
For us, our whole extension hwich is an open plan living space is designed around our HUSK kitchen. We spend all our time in here cooking, watching TV, doing homework – it really is the centre of our home.People comment on how beautiful it is all the time!
