In a thoughtful house renovation in Frome, the kitchen became the centrepiece of a transformation that turned a once dark and impractical bungalow into a light-filled, functional space.
By focusing on reimagining the internal spaces rather than expanding the overall footprint of the property, the project allocated more budget to high-quality, natural materials and stunning finishes, ensuring both beauty and practicality.
The client opted for the HUSK design service to help with materiality and space planning, customising IKEA cabinetry with bespoke elements such as open shelving on the back of the island. Designed to be a bright, welcoming space, the material choices reflect a balance of durability and natural beauty.
Functionality within the design
Functionality was a key driver in the design process, ensuring that the kitchen was not only visually stunning but also highly practical. A notable design decision was the concealment of the oven stack, pantry and refridgeration allowing for a clean, uninterrupted flow of cabinetry that enhances the sense of calm and simplicity. This hidden element makes the kitchen perfect for entertaining, maintaining a clutter-free environment where guests can gather without the visual distraction of appliances.
Detail & Refinement
Neolith Mirage countertops bring a refined, earthy look to the space. Known for their durability and resistance to stains and scratches, they offer both longevity and an understated elegance. These are paired with FENIX® Castoro Ottawa fronts, the smooth, matte surface resists fingerprints and enhances the kitchen’s sleek, minimal aesthetic. The choice of soft, earthy tones in the cabinetry echoes the home’s wider material palette, fostering a sense of continuity between the kitchen and the rest of the house.
